naein is derived from the word νάειν (náein), "to flow", an ode to how a paintbrush flows on canvas, how the hijab flows in the wind, and how Islam flows through our veins.
The idea for naein came from the realisation that the Nusantara art scene is brimming with talent, but that there could be more done to showcase, amplify, and most importantly reward the works of our talented artists.
We want to do this by democratising art sustainably – creating a platform for Nusantara artists to showcase their talent and earn from it, while promoting public arts appreciation – empowering the common person to own a piece of art in the wardrobe of their home and not just admire it from a museum, without the exploitation of small artists.
Through our handcrafted hijabs, naein aims to shine the spotlight on Southeast Asia's art scene while bringing gallery-worthy masterpieces to women around the globe.
